Preschool Teacher – Michelle Cavenmichelle-caven-2-400x534

Michelle Caven is a well seasoned early childhood educator who is in her twenty-third year of a rewarding career. All of the wonderful opportunities, including teaching at the University of British Columbia Child Study Centre and it’s sister school, Soong Ching Ling Kindergarten in Shanghai, China; at Small Talk Centre for Language Development as a teacher and administrator; at Christianne’s Lyceum of Literature and Art and most recently as a speech-language therapy assistant for Vancouver Language Therapy for Kids, have made her the teacher she is today.

She brings a world of experience with her to the classroom and an intense passion for great quality children’s books! Her enthusiasm is contagious and Michelle could not be more ecstatic about working with children and their families in this wonderful community!

Assistant Teacher – Johanne Lamoureux

Johanne Lamoureux is in her sixth year as an Early Childhood Education Assistant.  Her IMG_3785passion for teaching started many many years ago in high school when she would spend every spare moment in her Aunt’s kindergarten class helping out!  When the opportunity arose to begin a new career she knew it had to be with children. Initially in a Montessori preschool environment, then moving to a play based environment with Developmental Disabilities Association for a few years and then having the pleasure of joining the Hillview Parent Participation Preschool for this last school year.

Johanne loves to engage with her students with an open-mind to best understand and encourage them through their play and creativity.  Her nurturing, smiles and a good sense of humour always add some fun to the classroom!
